Malibu based oil painter, Lori Mills, has been painting California since she was thirteen years old. Lori blends her oil painting skills with five decades of Los Angeles living to bring about a perfect marriage of her two passions. Lori’s evolution into oil painting allows her to introduce an element to this union and extend the range of her talent even further. Her use of emotion to incite passion in her work has allowed Lori to challenge the boundaries of oil painting - utilizing weightlessness to tell stories, and explore the depths of movement and composition.
Lori holds an art degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and an anatomy degree from UCLA. Lori has won awards for her paintings, including “Best in Show” for the Fusion Art Waterscapes National Competition in 2019. Lori has three installations at Malibu City Hall. She is represented by Tracy Park Gallery in Los Angeles, The Montecito Gallery in Santa Barbara, and The Malibu Contemporary Art Gallery. Lori has had numerous solo shows and television appearances speaking about her artistic practice. Lori’s paintings are in private collections in Brentwood, Montecito, Malibu and Manhattan. Lori taught art in the public school system in Los Angeles. Lori is a member of the Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains, The California Art Club and The Los Angeles Art Association. Lori is the current Vice President of the Malibu Art Association. Lori owns The Malibu Contemporary Art Gallery with her partner, Bobbi Bennett.
